Every Woman

Poem: Every Woman Should Know (Abridged)... how to fall in love without losing herself. ...how to quit a job, break up with a lover or confront a friend without ruining the friendship. ... when to try harder and when to walk away. ...that her childhood may not have been perfect but it's over. ...what she would and wouldn't do for love. ...how to live alone, even if she doesn't like it. ...whom she can trust, whom she can't and why she shouldn't take it personally. ...where to go be it her best friend's kitchen table or a charming Inn in the woods when her soul needs soothing. ...what she can and can't accomplish in a day, a month and a yer. --Maya Angelou

Journaling:Have you ever had a bad haircut? It sucks. Totally. I went to get mine cut on Thursday. It had gotten so long and it's been too hot. So I decided to get another short style. I wanted a bob that was shoulder length but ended up with something quite different. It's way too short and I don't know how long it will take to grow it out again. Needless to say, I'm not a very happy camper right now.

Note to Younger Self

Journaling: Dear Katina, Life is hard. It's much harder than you think it will be but it's worth it. It's so worth it. You are a survivor! You always have been and you always will be. Just hold on to the strength and determination you've developed from childhood. Don't settle. You deserve so much more than that. Make sure to take control of your life and stop floating. Live your dreams! Don't write them off as fantasy. Travel - you know you want to. If you don't it will haunt you for years to come. Take time out to breathe. Don't rush into those ill-considered knee-jerk reactions. Take time to think things through. Don't cower from change. Embrace the unknown and see where it leads. Keep an open mind but don't get caught up in what other people think. Make your own decisions. Be kind to yourself, no matter what. And be kind to others. Never blame yourself for what others choose to do. And try not to blame them quite as much. Everyone makes mistakes, not just you. It's inevitable that you will make some but try to learn from them so you don't repeat them. Oh and dance when you want to dance - no matter who's watching.

Journaling: I laugh every time I see this pic of me and my sister. We were in Junior High School and were getting ready for some silly formal dance. I don't remember what year it was exactly but look at those dresses! LOL. Do they have enough lace on them? And OMG, what were we thinking with those crazy hairdos? I sure don't miss those eighties styles.

Journaling: We met at work and hit it off right away. We could talk and laugh for hours. Every day after work we'd head to the gym and work out. We'd go to Happy Hour at Bennigan's talking about anything and everything. We laughed so much. Miss her since she moved back to Sweden. We stay in touch by email and her visits to the States.

Scrap Your Childhood Challenge #1
Journaling: I loved my childhood summers. When I was a young girl in Missouri, I adored climbing trees, rolling down hills, and eating icecream. We, my brother, sister, friends and I, used to spend the summer outside riding bikes, picnicking, swimming in the creek, dancing over the lawns, and hunting lightening bugs under the big yellow summertime moon. We used to play tag and tackle keep away in the streets until well after sundown. We used to have running competitions in the cool of the morning and then celebrate by rolling on the dewy earth laughing. Everything was fresh, fun and entertaining. I loved to go to the park and swing, climb the monkey bars or sit and talk for hours. We would lay in the grass looking up at the sky and daydream aloud to each other. Oh, those were the days.

Challenge 1 from The Journaler's Junction: Write it how you say it
Journaling: Okay, yeah I have a tendency to curse like a sailor at times. Prolly cuz I spent 8 years in the Army but maybe not the only reason. I admit I drop f bombs like nobody's business. Some of my key phrases are "What the hell?", "Are you freakin' kiddin' me?", and "No f*&%n way!" Oh and when I'm angry the swears fall at a rapid rate! I like to string them together like sentences even though it's just curse word after curse word. I do it so often I rarely notice now.

Journaling: My daily wear is sweats and a tank top. After wearing heels and slacks all day it's such a relief to come home and change into a pair of sweats, a tank top and my fuzzy socks. Welton bought me my first pair of Victoria Secret Boyfriend Sweats for Xmas and I absolutely love them. Can't wait to buy more. Someday, I hope to look like this in them too. :)
